The short version
What is a split sheet?
A split sheet is a short agreement that lists everyone who wrote a song and the share each one owns. PROs, publishers and distributors use those shares to pay songwriting royalties. Without one, money can sit unpaid while the writers sort it out.
Questions
If they shaped the song itself (melody, chords, lyrics, or the beat in many genres), yes. Agree on it in the room.
